So I finally managed to take some much needed vacation a few weeks back in October/November! I went down to Austin for a week to visit some friends and then went down to Beeville, TX for one of my favorite events, the Texas Mile! Although it was a new venue this time for me, it was still a great time. The weather was so cold at first and my friends and I had to make a run to Wal-Mart to get some cheap beanies and wind breakers! The clouds did move out and we did manage to get some really bad sun burns.
I was a little disappointed to see that Underground Racing was not at the event. Hennessey Performance was there representing well with their Ford GT that ran 263+ mph setting the Texas Mile record. Met a fellow GTAMC member who had driven his Mustang all the way from Toronto Canada which was pretty cool! I also met Miss Tiffany, who was riding a BMW S1000RR and managed to hit 190mph (just saw one of these bikes for sale here in Dubai hmmm). There was another girl riding a Turbo Busa who ran over 240mph and is officially the fastest girl on a bike!
Unfortunately there was an individual who was air-lifted from the event after crashing his Harley dragster at the 1/2 mile mark after getting into a horrible speed wobble. May he rest in peace as he passed on October 30. My condolences to all his family and friends.
I am hoping to go back in March for the next event! I wish I could ship my M5 over for it, but maybe I will have to just start the Dubai Mile!
